The Department of Health Care offers a Professional Bachelor of Nursing and a Professional Bachelor of Midwifery. In each of these trainings the focus is on practice: from the first year onwards you will be given the opportunity to apply what you have learned in your theoretical classes in the skills lab and during various internships. For both the Professional Bachelors each year is divided into four terms. One term equals a period of six weeks, including two weeks of assessment.

Professional Bachelor of Nursing

The first two years of all of the Bachelors Nursing are the same: you will be taught the necessary basic nursing skills and you will be able to apply those skills in the skills lab and during internships. From the third year onwards you will start focusing on the contents of the specialization of your choice. There are five Bachelor trainings to choose from:

Geriatric nursing

Your profile:
You are eager to provide the elderly with the special care and attention they require.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at a care center, a rest-home, a general welfare center, etc.

Hospital nursing

Your profile:
You are eager to kindly help patients within the context of a hospital.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at a general or specialized hospital, in home care, at an academic institution, in various development projects, etc.

Pediatric nursing

Your profile:
You are eager to work with children and you know what it takes to put a smile on their faces.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at a children’s hospital, the pediatric ward of a general hospital, in children’s rehabilitation centers, helping disabled children, etc.

Psychiatric nursing

Your profile:
You are eager to therapeutically assist people who are struggling with mental issues.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at a the psychiatric ward of a general hospital, a psychiatric institution, a rehabilitation center, etc.

Social nursing:

Your profile:
You are eager to help people who are, due to health issues, socially at risk.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at a welfare center, a youth center, the social department of a general hospital, etc. The social nurse is more than welcome almost everywhere!

Professional Bachelor of Midwifery

Your profile:
You are fascinated by the scientific and technical side of bringing new life into this world as well as by the emotional aspect of the wonder that is birth. You have a strong sense of responsibility.

Your future:
You will probably find a job at hospitals, general welfare centers, obstetric clinics, etc.
