Autosar Seminar: towards standardized software in vehicles

The AUTOSAR-consortium (AUTomotive Open System Architecture, www.autosar.org) has developed a number of standards to make the large amount of software in the vehicle more uniform.  It proposes a universal platform, one could call it the “Windows” or the “Linux” for automotive applications. Through the introduction of the AUTOSAR-standards, the market of automotive software will be more open for many automotive and software design companies.

But what is AUTOSAR actually?  And how does it help to control cost and automotive degree of quality?  How can AUTOSAR be of use to SMEs or to suppliers?
