Summerschool Creative Business Modelling: Shaping future smart cities

  • Be part of an enchanting international summer school where you learn to combine creativity and business modeling techniques to shape tomorrows challenges regarding smart cities with a focus on smart mobility and logistics.
  • During this 10 day (3ECTS) summer school in the heart of Belgian logistics hub and home of an international port, Antwerp is a unique city to take on the challenge to tackle future mobility and logistics.
  • Explore Antwerp, capital of diamonds and chocolate, along with students from all over the world; and discover the beauty of a vibrant city in a small country, located at the heart of Europe
  • The number of students is limited to 30 students.

Date

The summer pop-up school 2018 will run from June 25th – July 5th.

Credits

You can earn 3 credits. Please note that credits can only be awarded if you are currently enrolled at a university or university college, if you already gained 60 credits and if your university accepts the summerschool.

Tuition fee

  • All participants: 600 euro without accomodation/ 950 euro with accomodation
  • KdG students receive a 50% discount  

(Including all tuition fees, material costs, course materials and lunches)

Venue Two weeks in the vibrant creative city of Antwerp hosted by Karel De Grote University College.

Who can apply?

Undergraduates and graduates from any discipline who already gained 60 credits.

Language requirements

All teaching at the Summer School is in English. Applicants must be able to understand and follow arguments presented in written and spoken English at university level (IELTS B2).

Registration Policy

Registration due date is 21st of May 2018. Registrations can only be made by subscribing for the summer school via EventBrite and after full completion and submission of the required registration form.

Payment of the applicable fee (see below) is due upon completion of your registration.

Cancellation and refund Policy

Karel de Grote University College and Artevelde University College reserve the right to cancel the course due to insufficient enrollment or for any unforeseen event or circumstances (e.g. sudden unavailability of lecturer). In such case the registration fee will be fully refunded to the registered participant. Karel de Grote University College and Artevelde University College cannot be held liable for any damages, additional costs, loss or inconvenience which may be caused to the registered participants due to cancellation.

Karel de Grote University College and Artevelde University College reserve the right to make non substantial modifications to the program without prior notice to the registered participant. Substantial modifications will be notified in due time by e-mail to all registered participants.

Cancellations by registered participants must be made by writing an email to summerschool@kdg.be. If a cancellation is made no later than 1st of June 2018, than the total fee paid by the participant shall be fully refunded, minus €25 to cover for administrative costs.

Cancellations after the 10th of June but prior to the 20th of June will be charged a penalty of 50% of the total fee for administrative costs and reservations made.

For cancellations after the 20th of June or in case of a no-show the total fee remains due and no refund will be made.

Visa

EU-students should have a valid passport or identity card for the whole period.

Non EU-students should have a valid travel visa. An arrival statement is necessary. It is delivered by the student desk of foreign affairs. An appointment should be made to obtain this document. If you need an invitation letter to obtain a visa, please contact our organization for support (summerschool@kdg.be).

Health insurance

Students are obliged to have valid health insurance for the entire duration of the program. High costs may be incurred in the case of illness due to missing or incomplete insurance coverage for Belgium and Europe. Therefore, please be sure that your health insurance at home is valid during your stay in Antwerp. Please note that our summer program does not cover costs for medical treatment!

Students must send a copy of their insurance before the 10th of June. In case of non or late delivery of any required document or in case of insufficient insurance Karel de Grote University College may refuse to accept the participation to the course.

Accidents & Liability

During the activities and in transit to and from the activities of the summer school, the student is not insured by the institution for personal accidents and injury or civil liability coverage.

Fees

  • 600 euro – Full summerschool programme without accommodation
  • 950 euro – Full summerschool programme with accommodation
  • KdG students receive 50% discount

This fee includes:

  • Tuition fees for academic course, study materials, library access and the course certificate.
  • Fees for extra social and cultural trips and activities, including transport, which are on the program.
