Topics for expert classes  

We would like to invite our partners to contribute by a masterclass or workshop on the topics mentioned below. We are open to a diversity of presentation and formats (digital media, film, audio). Bachelor students from multimedia and communication technologies will attend the courses as well as students form other related study fields.

Central theme: ‘Designing the future, embracing technology’ 

The international week will focus on topics that are related to the impact of digitalization and automatization on society.

Sharing experiences and good practices:

• Gamification as a tool for intercultural/interdisciplinary communication (staff only)
• Setting up a virtual mobility project (staff only)

Workshops, lectures and masterclasses can be given on the following topics:

• New Product Development
  New product development process following lean principles Co-creation and open innovation
• Digital storytelling
• Managing innovation & disruptive technology
• Robotics and the benefits for humanity
  From smart prosthetics and hyper-specialized medical surgery to butler droids and on-demand manufacturing. In order to achieve this endless potential we face many challenges on both technical and adaptive. Help students figure out how robotics technology can take their idea into the future.
• FabLab, sustainability and education
  Expand your knowledges! Do you have a specific workshop that you would like to share in our facilities? we offer our space to tutors that seek to give workshops with technological themes
• Digital tools for management
  Agile, project management, creative, time management, marketing,... Introduce different tools and share experiences
• Future creative technologies - changing multimedia?

Getting to Antwerp

By air

• Antwerp is only 40 minutes by train from the international airport of Zaventem 'Brussel Airport', where flights arrive from and depart to more than 70 destinations. On the lowest level you will find the airport’s own railway station, Brussel-Nationaal-Luchthaven, accessible by lift and escalator from the arrivals hall. There are several connections per hour to Antwerp Central Station.  
• Brussels South/Charleroi airport is a 90 minute drive from Antwerp. There are bus connections from the airport to Charleroi-Sud railway station. Trains for Antwerp can be boarded there. A ticket that combines the bus and train services can be purchased at the Airport Ticket Desk. The total trip from Charleroi-Sud / Charleroi-Zuid to Anvers-Central / Antwerpen-Centraal, takes around 2h30.

By train

Antwerp is easy to reach by train from all Belgian and European cities and is only 40 minutes by train from Brussels Central Station and 40 minutes from the international airport of Zaventem 'Brussel Airport'. The train station Antwerp South is the closest to the venue.

By coach

Eurolines runs daily coach services to more than 500 destinations in Europe. Antwerp is one of them. You can book your journey at their website.

Getting to the venue

The international week is held at Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences, Belgium.

• On March 17th the programme will take place at Campus Zuid, Brusselstraat 45 Antwerp. This campus is located at walking distance from the train station Antwerp South and many public transport stops (served by tram 1, 4, 10).  
  The KdG parking at Campus Zuid will be closed on this day.
• On March 18th and 19th the programme will go on at Campus Hoboken, our faculty of Science & Technology at the following address: Salesianenlaan 90, Hoboken. This campus can be reached by tram 10 from Antwerp Central Station. 

By car

Campus Hoboken is accessible by car. A limited number of parking lots has been reserved for visitors. Visitors who would like to make a reservation for a parking lot are invited to contact Cynthia Plette.

• Theater Hotel: near the theatre, Meir: shopping area, in the middle between the train station and KdG. Breakfast included.

• Premium Suites: without breakfast. I should recommend this as the rooms are larger and mostly for a longer stay. Hotel is near the central train station.

Mobility agreement/ Letter of Invitation

A session for the singing of mobility agreements will be held on Thursday March 19th.  

Other documents such as an invitation letter can be provided upon request.

Costs and Erasmus

Participation is free of charge. Lunches will be provided as well as two diners. Please note that all participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation and travel costs. Please contact the Erasmus coordinator at your home institution to apply for Erasmus+ funding for participating in this international week.

For the optional programme ‘Discover the Smart City of Antwerp’ we charge a fee of 40 €

The registrations are open from November 5th and close on Monday December 16th, 2019. You will receive further information on the program details and practical matters soon after the registrations.
