Our university of applied sciences aims to be a safe place where everyone can be themselves and feel welcome, safe and valued. Transgressive behaviour will not be tolerated.
What is transgressive behaviour?
Behaviour is inappropriate if it crosses your personal boundaries. Boundaries are subjective: behaviour that others find acceptable may cross your boundaries.
Transgressive behaviour can take various forms:
- violence or aggression (psychological, physical, verbal or non-verbal)
- bullying (physical, verbal, online)
- unwanted sexual behaviour (with or without physical contact)
- discrimination (based on personal traits such as sex, gender identity, disability, nationality or religion)
- abuse of power
- ...
Who is the reporting centre for?
The reporting centre is available to any student, member of staff or every external party who
- believes that their personal boundaries have been crossed
- has crossed someone else’s boundaries or is unsure whether they have
- has witnessed transgressive behaviour
- has a question about boundaries and transgressive behaviour.
Who can you turn to?
Our internal confidential advisors are here to listen and support you if you experience transgressive behaviour. They can provide information and advice. They will work with you to identify what you need, at your own pace and with your wishes and needs in mind. All conversations are confidential, and our internal confidential advisors are bound by a duty of professional confidentiality.

- Staff and external visitors: Martine Janssens and Saar Reijniers – internal.confidant.staff@kdg.be.
- Every report is reviewed and handled discreetly and confidentially.
- If you have asked to be contacted, you will receive a response within three working days.
- The internal confidential advisors are there first and foremost to listen. You decide what you want to share and how you want to tell your story. Sometimes simply talking about it is enough; at other times, further support may be needed.
- They will discuss the next steps with you. They will talk you through the options for further follow-up and support. You can also contact the reporting centre if you simply want to make a report and do not (yet) want any further follow-up. They will never take action without your consent.
- If necessary and if you wish, they can refer you to the appropriate services.
Do you need urgent help?
You can still contact the reporting centre and submit a report during holiday periods, but we cannot guarantee that an internal confidential advisor will be available. The Reporting Centre for Transgressive Behaviour is always available, but it cannot provide immediate crisis support.
If you need urgent help or would like to talk to someone, please contact:
