Programme
- Online introduction: early June 2026 – exact date to be confirmed
Before the start of the international week in Antwerp, all participants will take part in an online introduction session. In this session, you will:- Meet fellow participants and exchange backgrounds.
- Gain inspiration from short talks on how (art) school libraries connect with special collections, museums, and cultural heritage institutions.
- Explore how the library can become a dynamic workshop space where students experiment, research, and develop their own practice.
- Build a shared framework to prepare for the discussions and activities of the international week in Antwerp.
- Daily activities: Monday 15 - Friday 19 June 2026
During five days in Antwerp, participants will engage in a varied programme that combines thematic input, practical exchange, and cultural experience:- Talks & discussions: exploring the evolving role of (art) school libraries in relation to special collections, museums, and cultural heritage institutions.
- Workshops & sharing sessions: interactive opportunities to present experiences, good practices, and challenges from different institutional contexts.
- Context visits: guided tours of Sint Lucas Antwerp, local museums and cultural heritage organisations, including the collections of the Museum Plantin-Moretus and the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library. These visits will offer direct insights into diverse practices.
- Networking: structured and informal moments to build connections.
For whom?
This international week welcomes staff:
- Working in a library context and curious to explore the theme The Library as Studio: Art, Archives and Special Collections.
- Who are open to sharing practices and perspectives.
- From KdG partner universities and universities of applied sciences (others considered).
- Joining individually or together with colleagues.
How to apply?
Applications and registrations will open soon (exact date to be confirmed)
- Apply by completing the online registration form.
- Participation fee: €150. Your registration is only confirmed once payment has been received.
- Travel and accommodation expenses should be covered by your home institution, preferably via the Erasmus+ programme (Staff Mobility for Training).
- Candidates are selected on the basis of their application form, motivation, and alignment with the target group profile.
- Multiple applicants from the same institution are welcome.

Erasmus+
This staff week is organised as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). Participants are encouraged to apply for Erasmus+ staff mobility funding at their home institution.
- Apply in time for Erasmus+ Staff Mobility funding, following instructions from your own institution.
- Please check whether your organization is eligible to take part in blended Erasmus+ activities.
Included in the programme
- Coffee, tea, water, and light refreshments during lectures and workshops
- Social activities and cultural visits throughout the week
- A closing dinner to round off the programme together
All of these elements are included in the participation fee.

Most meetings will take place in the library of Campus Sint Lucas Antwerp.
