- Fostering Belonging and Wellbeing
Good practices for support and teaching staff to truly welcome students from the start. How to create inclusive & safe campuses, classrooms and learning environments? - Setting clear expectations
Navigating student expectations in higher education requires bridging the gap between student assumptions and academic realities. How can we help students to fully understand the (unwritten) rules? What do they need to get a clear picture of their path to success? - Developing essential (study) skills
How to support students with less adequate prior knowledge? How to foster their self-regulation and self-efficacy?
In addition to the sessions, participants can join networking meetings and social activities, offering plenty of opportunities to build international connections, share experiences, and collaborate on new ideas.
For whom?
The International Week welcomes staff ideally from KdG partner universities and universities of applied sciences.
As a candidate, you are:
- Experienced in teaching, educational support, curriculum development, or internationalisation.
- Prepared to share good practices and actively contribute ideas - act as a ‘critical friend’.
- Employed at a partner higher education institution to KdG.
- Working language will be English. Don’t let this frighten you: we are open to translanguaging.
Recommendation: We strongly advise participants to come in pairs from the same institution, allowing colleagues in different roles to share insights and be inspired together.

Participant and Erasmus+ mobility agreement
- The week is free of charge.
- Travel and accommodation expenses should be covered by your home universities, preferably via the Erasmus+ programme (Staff Mobility for Training; see below).
- Participants planning an Erasmus+ staff mobility for Training (STT) are welcome to contact Nele De Witte (nele.dewitte@kdg.be) for the signing of the Mobility Agreement.

Accommodation and transport
Getting to Antwerp
You can reach Antwerp easily by plane or train.
By plane
- Brussels Airport (Zaventem) is the main international airport and the easiest option. From here, you can reach Antwerp in about 45 minutes:
- Airport Express Bus direct to Antwerp city centre.
- Direct train from to Antwerp Central Station (via Brussels).
- Brussels South Charleroi Airport is mainly used by low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Wizz Air). With a direct shuttle bus, or a bus + train combination, you will reach Antwerp in 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Antwerp Airport (Deurne) is a small airport with limited international flights. By bus or tram, you reach the city centre in 15–25 minutes.
- Eindhoven Airport (NL) is also popular for low-cost flights. You can take a FlixBus to Antwerp (± 75 minutes) or bus + train via Eindhoven and Breda.
By train
- Antwerp has two main stations: Antwerp Central Station and Berchem station.
- Antwerp is well connected to the European high-speed rail network, including Thalys and Eurostar.
- International railway lines connect Antwerp to many major European cities:
- The Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam
- France: Paris, Lille
- Germany: Cologne, Düsseldorf
- United Kingdom: via Eurostar to Brussels, then a local train to Antwerp
