What is the cost of studying?

Tuition fees 2026-2027: diploma or credit contract for graduates, bachelor’s and master’s

Most new students enrol with a diploma contract.

Basic fee

You pay the basic fee if you have Belgian nationality or an EEA nationality or exceptions due to rights of residency.

• Non-scholarship student: 305,40 euros + 14,60 euros per study credit
• Part-scholarship student: 305,40 euro + 5,30 euros per study credit
• Scholarship student: 139,40 euros

Higher fee

• If you do not meet the criteria above for the basic fee, you pay the higher fee: 2600 euros + 107 euros per study credit.
• If you do not meet the criteria above for the basic fee and started in or before 2025–2026: 2600 euros + 84,90 euros per study credit.

Tuition fees 2026-2027: other

• Exam contract:
  • You pay the standard or increased rate exam contract, as per the same conditions as a diploma or credit contract (see above):
    • Standard rate exam contract: €139,40 + €5,30 per study credit
    • Increased rate exam contract: 1078,10 euro + 8 euro per study credit
• Advanced master: 1014,1 euros + 34,70 euros per study credit
• Credit contract for student in the third stage (final cycle) of secondary education: 69,70 euros (max. 12 credits)
• Insufficient learning credit (for bachelor’s and master’s): increased tuition fees for students with insufficient learning credit, except for those students who meet the exception rules as stipulated in the Education and Examination Regulations: 14,60 euros extra per study credit for which no learning account is available.

Depending on the programme you choose, there may be extra costs for books and courses, laptops, software, study trips, etc.

Here you will find the overview of the fixed and study-related costs

• Are your tuition fees eating too much into your budget?
• And so would you like to spread the payment of your tuition fees over time?

No problem! If you pay the basic fee, you can spread your payment for any course (excluding a postgraduate, post-training and study day).

• You pay an advance of 139,40 euros upon registration and immediately register for a spread payment plan.
• You must pay the remaining amount in a maximum of five instalments.

If you’re a non-EEA student, you will receive a tuition fee payment request via Flywire once you have been accepted to your programme. Flywire is KdG’s official and only platform for paying non-EEA tuition fees and submitting your proof of solvency.

Before your enrolment, you must pay the full tuition fee for your first academic year through Flywire.

Flywire allows secure international payments and supports multiple payment methods. You can also track your payment status easily via email, the Flywire app or text notifications.

Under certain conditions, students may be eligible for a scholarship issued by the Flemish government.

The main criterium is your nationality, or more specifically, the type of visa or residence permit you have to reside in Belgium.

Please note: if you are living in Belgium under a student or work visa, you will not be eligible.

You can also pay the basic tuition fee in these cases:

• Permanent Belgian residence permit
  Supporting documents: electronic B, C, D, F+, K or L card
• Right of residence in Belgium: refugee status, subsidiary protection, humanitarian or medical regularisation, victim of human trafficking or family reunification
  Proof:
  • Attestation Payoke/Pag-asa/Sürya for victims of human trafficking
  • Decision CGVS or Council refugee/subsidiary protection disputes (n.b. Annex 26 is not sufficient)
  • Proof of application for humanitarian visa/procedure humanitarian regularisation/medical regularisation for legal stay of 12 months from 31/12
  • Annex 41b for family reunification
  • Annex 19/19 for family reunification
  • Certificate of family member EEA citizen for non-Belgians
  • Certificate of temporary protection for Ukrainian nationals (pdf). Note that an ‘A card’ is not in itself a sufficient proof of temporary residence. Be sure to refer to the sample document.
  • Please note: holding an ‘A card’ or an ‘orange card’ does not exempt you from paying the higher tuition fee. Only the exceptions listed above apply.
