Institutional review
KdG: a University of Applied Sciences with an excellent quality report
- All universities of applied sciences and universities in Flanders are assessed every 6 years through an institutional review.
- In 2022–2023, KdG underwent its second institutional review.
- This again led to a positive decision, based on a particularly positive final report from the assessment committee.
KdG pursues an effective education policy, evaluates and improves it, including through its own governance structure that safeguards the quality of its programmes.
1. Annual evaluation of learning and assessment materials
- Each year, the programme evaluates the learning and assessment materials of a number of courses.
- This is done together with lecturers, students, and representatives from the professional field.
- The findings are immediately incorporated into the programme's multi-year plan.
- As a student, you can read the results of this process on the programme page in Canvas.
2. Programme review: every 5 years
- A panel of independent experts (external and internal) examines the entire programme in detail.
- They assess everything against KdG's education quality code.
- The panel provides concrete feedback, highlighting strengths, points to focus on, and any mandatory improvement points.
- The programme uses this feedback to safeguard and improve quality.
3. Safeguarding and communication
- Following the programme review, a safeguarding dialogue takes place: the programme develops a concrete action plan.
- The General Director issues an official safeguarding decision; KdG's governing body ratifies this.
- A public abstract of the programme review is published on this page - ensuring transparency for you as a (prospective) student.
- Annual follow-up meetings systematically monitor progress.
