As a KdG student or staff member, you receive a personal account. This gives you access to everything you need to study or work efficiently.
Step 1: Set up MFA on your laptop
- Go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and sign in.
- Enter your @kdg email address and click Next.
- Enter your password and click Sign in.
- You will see a "More information required" notification.
- Click Next. You will be redirected to a new page.
- The Microsoft Authenticator app is automatically selected as the method.
- Click Next twice in succession.
Step 2: Install the Microsoft Authenticator app
Download the app to your smartphone:
Step 3: Confirm using your smartphone
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Tap the plus sign (+) in the top right corner.
- Select "Work or school account".
- Scan the QR code on your computer screen.
- Tap "Next".
- You will see a number on your computer screen.
- You will also receive a notification on your smartphone.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app and enter the number shown on your computer.
- Click "Next" on your computer.
- You will see a message stating "Notification approved"; click "Next".
Step 1: Add a sign-in method
- Go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
- Sign in with your KdG account.
- Click + Add sign-in method.
Choose at least 2 methods:
Step 2: Authenticator app method
- Recommended!
(safest and easiest way)
Step 2: Phone method
- Select Belgium (+32).
- Enter your mobile number.
- Select:
- Receive a code:
- You will receive an SMS with a code. If the SMS does not arrive, click "Resend code".
- Enter this code and click "Next".
- You will see the message "Verification complete. Your phone is registered."
- Click "Done".
- Call:
- You will receive a call from Microsoft.
- You will be asked to press a specific key.
- After this, you will receive a notification that your phone number has been verified.
- Receive a code:
- Click "Next".
Step 2: Email method
- Select Email.
- You will be asked: Which email address do you want to use?
- Use a personal email address (not your KdG email address).
- You will receive a code at this email address.
- Enter the code and click Next.
Not receiving an email?
- Check your mailbox.
- Check your spam folder.
- Try again.
- Go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info/password/change (this will only work if you have enabled password recovery).
- Enter a new password twice and click Submit.
Hadn't you enabled password reset yet?
- Student: contact the ICT Servicedesk
- Staff member: Use these additional options or contact the ICT Servicedesk
Did you receive an email stating that your password is about to expire? If so, please take action as soon as possible.
Your new password:
- Must be at least 8 characters long.
- Must be a combination of different characters, such as uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Must not contain your name.
- Must not be the same as any of your previous 24 passwords.
- Is case-sensitive.
- Is unique and personal:
- Use a phrase that is easy to remember, e.g., from a favorite song.
- Avoid simple or predictable combinations.
- Go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com.
- This will only work if you have activated password recovery.

- Students: firstname.lastname@student.kdg.be
- Staff: firstname.lastname@kdg.be

Leaving KdG
Are you graduating or unenroll at KdG?
- Your KdG account will be automatically deleted on 1 November of the following academic year.
- Please move your important emails and documents before this date.
