The aim of this project is to reduce harmful emissions in the port of Ostend. Indeed, research has shown that this is one of the Belgian regions that regularly exceeds the European limit value for particulate matter.
Specifically, we are converting a diesel engine into a methanol engine to achieve higher efficiency with diesel and thus curb harmful emissions.
The use of methanol engines would thus have a positive effect on air pollution in the port of Ostend.
