Selection procedure

Working at a university college takes some doing. We'd like to answer the most frequently asked questions about the selection procedure. We distinguish between OP (teaching staff) and ATP (administrative and technical staff).

Whether you need a bachelor's degree or not depends on the position you apply for.

  • For teaching staff vacancies, there are legal requirements regarding degrees (master's or bachelor's). Then you will need to have the right degree.
  • For administrative and technical staff vacancies you can take part in an assessment through KdG to prove you have the required working and thinking level.
  • In that case, you'll read '... or equal by experience' under 'Who are you?'. We would advise you to apply.

First of all, we want to assure you that you'll always hear from us, even if it's to say, unfortunately, that you did not get the job or make the shortlist. We do not take part in ghosting.

  • If you have received a confirmation email, your application is correctly submitted, and you are in the running.
  • Usually, you receive a confirmation after 2 working days at the latest, unless it's during a vacation period. After the vacancy deadline, we start by going through the CV's and cover letters. If you make the shortlist, you'll be invited for a selection interview. If you did not make the shortlist, you'll receive an email.
  • Depending on the profile we're looking for, the selection procedure may include an assignment, test or assessment. Someone applying for a position as planner will get a planning test for example.
  • The selection team can be different depending on the vacancy. If you receive an invitation, we mention who will take part in the interview. Usually the selection teams include one or two managers and sometimes an HR staff member and/or a colleague.

Our language requirements are stricter for teaching staff than for administrative and technical staff.

  • To teach in English (as a non-language lecturer) it is required by the government that teaching staff can prove they have attained a C1 level.
  • When it comes to Dutch, we advise all staff members to be able to read and understand the language, enabling you to read all communication on our intranet and participate in professionalisation activities, consultations, etc.
  • Lecturers are required to achieve a B2 level in Dutch after 5 years. We offer a guidance programme including training possibilities via Linguapolis.

A university college appeals to me because I want to keep learning. If you work in an environment where learning is the core business, there isn't a better match.
