To apply for one of our international bachelor’s degree programmes, you will need:

And if relevant for you:

  • Belgian residence card? Upload it too – this helps to determine your tuition fees
  • An APS certificate if you are applying from China.

 

KdG offers students high quality, accessible education in an international classroom. Prior knowledge of the subject is not essential. All we ask for is your passion and eagerness to learn and we will help you to realise your potential and make a difference. We’re here to help you become a future KdG’er.

  • No interview or additional tests are required for admission to KdG.
  • There is currently no restriction on the number of places.

Tuition fee

Our tuition fee for the 2024-2025 academic year is:

  • 7252,20 euro for non-EEA nationals
  • 1116 euro for EEA nationals

The tuition fee is to be paid annually. Supplementary educational materials such as coursebooks are not included.

Scholarships

KdG offers no scholarships or grants.

As a public university, we spread our funding across the entire student body. It helps us keep our tuition fees fair and means our university remains accessible to as many students as possible.

Do you have a Belgian ID card? Check Study in Flanders’ website. You may be eligible for a 'studiebeurs'.

Deadlines for EEA and local nationals

There is no application or payment deadline.

Deadlines for non-EEA nationals

Application deadline (completed file): before 12:00 CET 14th June 2024

Payment deadline: before 12:00 CET 28th June 2024

These strict deadlines are in place to help you arrange your visa in time to start in September.

Read these important visa deadlines and be aware that KdG cannot offer visa support for the academic year 2024-25 after 1 July 2024.

Note: if you are a non-EEA national who qualifies for the higher tuition fee but already has temporary residence in Belgium, these deadlines for non-EEA nationals still apply.

  • Academic year 2023-24

Deadlines for EEA and local nationals

There is no application deadline. However, classes started in September 2023. If you are interested in joining the current academic year, email study@kdg.be providing your preferred study programme and nationality. 

Deadlines for non-EEA nationals

Admissions are now closed for the academic year 2023-24.

    Application procedure

    Here’s your step by step guide to applying:

    • Step 1: Complete the web registration form and upload your supporting documents
    • Step 2: Pay the application fee (value deducted from your tuition fee if accepted)
    • Step 3: Admissions will process your file and confirm acceptance decision, or request additional info from you.
    • Step 4: Pay your invoice which will be sent to you.
    • Step 5: Receive your welcome email from KdG Student Services with information around student visas, housing and the Welcoming Days.

    Language certificate and/or secondary education certificate pending? You can still complete the web registration and upload these once available.

    Application fee

    We require a non-refundable application fee payable during your online application.

    • Cost: 131,50 euro (excluding bank costs). This fee is deducted from your tuition fee if you are accepted onto the programme.
    • This fee is required for all students applying for a degree programme.
    • Have a regular Belgian or Dutch diploma? Then the fee is refundable if you are not accepted or enrolled in the programme.

    Secondary education certificate

    • We require a certified copy of the original diploma in the original language.
    • Upload certificates in English, Dutch, French or German only. Certificates in other languages need translating first by a SWORN translator before submission.
    • We typically accept certificates that grant access to a comparable higher education degree programme in the country it was awarded. Every admission file, however, is assessed on its own merit.
    • You can apply before you have received your secondary education certificate, provided that:
      • You are a student in the final year of secondary school, expecting to graduate by the end of June this year.
      • As part of your online application, you submit a statement of your expected qualifications, signed and stamped by your school.

      • You do send a copy of the final certificate before the start of the academic year. Without this you won’t be able to start.

    If you do apply before you have received your final secondary education certificate, and your application is accepted, you will receive a conditional acceptance and an invitation to pay your first year’s tuition fee.

    This will allow you to proceed without delay with your application and arrangements to join KdG on time.

    Check examples of certificates that we typically accept. This list is not a guarantee nor exhaustive in any way. It is merely provided to help you check if the level of your diploma is acceptable or not. Diplomas not listed will be assessed individually.

    English language requirements and certification

    We require CEFR level B2 English or higher for our English-taught bachelor’s degrees.  You must provide proof of your English proficiency and you will need to provide a test certificate unless you meet one of the exemptions listed below.

    Do you hold a Belgian diploma (BSO, TSO or ASO)? Note that these diplomas are not considered as sufficient proof of English proficiency. You will need to provide additional certification of your level of English.

    If you have a learning disability or impairment such as dyslexia that can affect your language test arrangements, contact apply@kdg.be. We'll be happy to explain how the language testing companies can accommodate you.

    Proof of English language proficiency

    We accept the following as proof of your language proficiency:

    English-language test certificate
    Achieved the required scores in one of the language tests listed below within the last two years:

    • Duolingo English test
      Minimum overall score: 115, minimum sub scores: 100
    • Cambridge English Qualifications
      Minimum overall score: 168, minimum sub scores: 161
    • IELTS (& IELTS Online)
      Minimum overall score: 6.0, minimum sub scores: 5.5
    • ITACE
      Minimum overall score: B2, minimum sub scores: B2
    • TOEFL-iBT
      Minimum overall score: 78, minimum sub scores: 18.

    KdG proof of course credit

    • You previously earned a KdG proof of course credit for English B2 or higher.

    International Baccalaureate Diploma

    • Achieved a score of five or higher in your International Baccalaureate Diploma for English A or English B

    Exemptions to providing test certification.
    To be exempt from providing a language test certificate, you need to meet one of the following requirements:

    • Exemption category 1
      • You can provide official confirmation from your secondary school or university that you have:
      • Studied in the USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or one of Canada’s English-speaking provinces and obtained (or will obtain) a secondary school diploma with at least two years’ schooling there.
      • Or completed two years at a higher education institute there.
    • Exemption category 2
      • You can provide official confirmation from your secondary school or higher education institute, where English is the language of instruction,  that you have studied and completed two years or more of full-time secondary education there.

    Under this category you will be registered for a KdG Skype language test during your application. The test includes a written task. Please note that the language test can only be arranged during the period January – July.

    • KdG language screening session

      KdG offers free on-campus language screening sessions to check your level of English. These consist of a test on reading comprehension, listening comprehension and vocabulary, and a speaking and writing assessment with an examiner.

      • You must obtain a CEFR level of B2 or higher for all parts to be eligible for a place on our English-taught degree programmes.
      • These tests will take place in Antwerp (Campus Groenplaats) 

      • Reservations are mandatory.

      • You may only attend one on-campus screening session. If you do not obtain the required grade, you will need to take one of the alternative language tests referred to above.

    Applying from China?

    • All students with a Chinese degree are obliged to obtain an APS certificate of academic screening.
    • An APS certificate is also a condition for obtaining a student visa to study in Belgium.
    • Chinese applicants should add the APS certificate to their application. Start the process yourself before applying to KdG by contacting info@aps.org.cn
    • The APS screening is not an academic selection procedure but is to avoid document fraud and to guarantee a sufficient language knowledge.

    Credit transfers

    If you have already obtained study credits at another higher education institution, you could qualify for a credit transfer.

    • Get an idea of which credit transfers you are eligible for by comparing your previously earned credits with our programme’s course units on ects.kdg.be. Select ‘English’ for the English version. This information is updated at the end of June for the upcoming academic year.
    • During your registration you will be able to indicate that you wish to request credit transfers. This will give you access to a module allowing you to request the credit transfers and upload the necessary documents, as soon as the course catalogue for your degree programme is finalised. We examine whether you qualify, by comparing the content and credits of your previous course units with your KdG degree modules.
    • Whilst waiting for the publication of next academic year's course catalogue, and access to the module, you can already prepare your requests based on the current course catalogue on ects.kdg.be. Typically, 90% of the curricula remains unchanged.
    • A credit transfer is only awarded if there is a match in content and number of credits, and we are satisfied that you have already obtained the relevant competences.
