This is what you can expect as a Bangladeshi student at KdG University of Applied Sciences & Arts in Antwerp, Belgium:
- 6 English-taught bachelor degrees in Business, IT, Multimedia and Nursing.
- Admissions are based on your secondary school diploma and proof of English at B2 level.
- 3-year full-time bachelor degree on campus in Antwerp.
- Practice-based programmes: group work, projects and assignments.
- Tuition fees and proof of sufficient financial means are required before you can apply for your visa.
- The visa process can take 3-5 months and includes a biometric appointment in Dhaka.

- To apply, you need a secondary school diploma that gives access to university in Bangladesh, for example: Higher Secondary Certificate.
- An English certificate at B2 level or higher (CEFR) is required for our English-taught bachelor’s degrees.
- Tuition fee
As a non-EEA student, your tuition fee is around €9000 per academic year. There are no scholarships at KdG.

All classes in our international bachelor programmes are taught in English.
Visa process
- Students from Bangladesh need to apply for a long-stay visa (type D). Applications are submitted through the Belgian Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in Dhaka.
- Start your visa application as early as possible. Visa processing can take 3–5 months. Embassies usually need a couple of weeks for interviews and initial checks before sending your application to the Belgian Immigration Office. The Immigration Office then has 90 days to process your application under Belgian law.
- Belgium requires that you prove you have enough funds to cover your stay to get a visa.
- You need health insurance that covers your stay in Belgium. This is required for both your visa and your residence permit renewal. Health insurance for international students
Housing
Most KdG students rent a student room (called a 'kot'). These are private rooms in shared buildings, often with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Some students prefer private studios or apartments.
Monthly cost of student housing
- Student room: 500 euros on average
- Studio with private facilities: 620 euros on average
- Apartment: 850 euros on average
- These average prices exclude costs for water, gas, electricity and the internet. Budget around 80 euros per month, depending on the contract you have.

When to start looking for accommodation?
- Start looking 3-4 months before arrival.
- Search for accommodation as soon as you receive your (conditional) letter of enrolment.
- Most rooms become available in May, June and July.
- The sooner you start looking, the more choice you will have.
Combining work and study
A full-time programme at KdG already means a commitment of up to 40 hours per week: classes, group work, projects, and assignments. Working on top of that is possible, but limited and demanding.
- Part-time work is not a way to fund your studies. You need sufficient financial means to live and study in Belgium for your entire stay. This must be proven in advance through your proof of solvency and it matters beyond the paperwork: without enough money, you won't be able to support yourself here.
- Non-EEA students on a standard study residence permit can legally work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year (unlimited during official university holidays).
- KdG recommends staying well under that: no more than 12 hours per week, so your studies stay the priority.
- Students who work more than this, especially in their first year, often fall behind and struggle to catch up.
- Your residence permit renewal depends on making sufficient progress in your studies, measured in credits. If you fall behind, your permit can be refused.
